How to become a Cygnet Artist
The Cygnet is a vibrant Art Gallery in Shaftesbury. It is run as a Cooperative by thirty local artists, each of whom rents a unit. All the work in it is designed, made and crafted by us.
We are always looking for new artists interested in joining. Our units are affordable and, because we are subsidised by Swans Trust, they are inclusive of business rates and utilities.
To apply for a unit:
Fill in this application form, attach 4/5 x A4 images of your work, and send it to:
New Artists Applications
Dorset, SP7 8JQ.
or email your application and images to firstname.lastname@example.org. Alternatively, you can drop it in at The Gallery.
Your images will be emailed or displayed in the gallery for a few weeks, and a vote taken by current artists. You will then be notified of the result. If voted in and a unit is available, it will be offered to you; or you will be placed on the waiting list until a space becomes available.
Upon taking up the offer of unit, you will become a Licence Holder and be required to sign a legal contract. By doing this, you undertake to pay your monthly rent and a small admin fee by standing order; and to do a weekly half-day shift.
