Ceramics
My adventures in clay started in about 2007. A year later I decided to enrol on a degree in Three Dimensional Design in Ceramics at the University for Creative Arts in Farnham. Graduating in 2013 I began to sell my work and also teach adult learners.
My complete passion is throwing on the wheel and I mainly use porcelain clay which is a bit of a tricky material! A lot of my work is tableware and I really enjoy sourcing all the Victorian images that I use for the surface decoration. The work I make is fired three times and takes up to two months to make through all the processes. I collaborate with museums to make bespoke collections, tying in with special exhibitions. I love inventing new products and working out how to make challenging pieces and new techniques. A few years ago I appeared on Kirstie's Handmade Christmas on Channel 4. I demonstrated my unique technique of hand marbling on ceramics (similar to paper marbling). I always have an urge to be making something with my hands so I have recently branched out and created a new range of upcycled products using bicycle inner tubes. Another interest of mine is paper collage and I have launched a whole range of one-off greeting cards. Contact details: www.charlottestockley.co.uk/ 07939-599233 charlottestockley@hotmail.com |
