How to become a Cygnet Artist
The Cygnet is a vibrant gallery in Shaftesbury. It's run as a cooperative by local artists, each of whom rents a unit. All the work is designed, made and crafted by us.
We are always looking for new artists interested in joining our community. Our units are affordable and, because we are subsidised by Swans Trust, they are inclusive of business rates and utilities. There are four ways to apply for a unit:
Images will be sent to all current artists and a vote taken. You will then be notified of the result. If voted in a unit will be offered. If all units are occupied you will be placed on the waiting list. Upon taking up the offer of a unit, you will become a licence holder and be required to sign a legal contract. By doing this you undertake to pay your monthly rent and a small admin fee by standing order. A weekly half-day shift and a housekeeping task are also mandatory. Images of your work
